Testimonials
I had the pleasure of working with Michael McFadden while he was at Stuart Silk Architects for four years. He was our primary architect during the design and construction of our custom home on Lake Sammamish. We wanted a traditional shingle style home reminiscent of the Hamptons but wanted the interiors to be more open and modern. Michael was able to achieve our vision. He has an excellent eye for proportion and scale, pays attention to every minute detail, and is thoughtful about every aspect of the design process.
Building a house is stressful, but Michael was always supportive and helpful. At one point, when I was on the verge of a meltdown, Michael was able to reassure me that everything was going to be OK and that he was there for us anytime. You know that he's in your corner and wants for you to be happy. During the two year house construction, he was at every site meeting and made sure that every detail of the build was up to his high standard.
We now have our amazing dream home that is timeless, elegant, beautiful, and extremely functional. Everything turned out better than we anticipated and I honestly cannot think of a single thing I would change. We are so happy to have had the opportunity to work with Michael and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a talented architect.

When we recently remodeled our historic, 96 year old Seattle home, we needed an architect who could keep the integrity of our home while adding updates and renovations that would make the home comfortable for a modern lifestyle. Michael did an outstanding job of combing modern with traditional. We have used several architects over the past 20 years for remodels for two previous homes , and we never found anyone as easy to work with from the original design to the project’s completion. Michael owned the project and was always personally available to address any unforeseen issues that you get when you are remodeling an older home. Remodels are never easy, but with the right team they are very rewarding. We also worried that the overall cost of the remodel might be greater than the resale value of our home post remodel. We are now convinced that every dollar was well spent and that our remodel will definitely lead to substantial appreciation to our home while making it considerably more livable.
Michael was regarded as the top designer at one of the best architectural firms in Seattle. We felt fortunate to have him work on our project. Michael was always accessible, he got back to us immediately and he paid careful attention to every detail from the crown molding, to the window design, to the bearing walls. He foresaw problems and quickly fixed any problems that arose. Not only is Michael an excellent architect, but he is also an extremely nice person and a pleasure to have on any team. We cannot recommend Michael highly enough. We have already used Michael again for a smaller project that needed his professional expertise and we will definitely use him for future projects.

We had the great pleasure of working with Michael McFadden to design our dream home on a very challenging lot on Mercer Island. Working within an incredibly tight timeline (Mercer Island’s setback codes were due to change), Michael created an elegant and modern design that checked every single one of our complex and Feng Shui driven array of requirements. The design Michael created was permitted in record time due to Michael’s deep understanding of the permitting demands (nothing had to be changed for permitting approval), his professionalism, and his ability to assemble the best team of experts (biologist, arborist, structural engineer, civil engineer, etc.). Michael’s talent and client focused approach to design made the process a breeze for us. We recommend Michael whole heartedly and hope someday to have the opportunity to work with him again.
